Chess playground For all fans of this famous strategy game. Chess is a strategy game played with 16 pieces on a 64-square board. It is considered one of the most intellectual games in the world. The goal of the game is to checkmate the opposing king, meaning that the king is under attack and cannot move without risking his life. There are numerous legends about chess, and one of the most famous is the one about Emperor Shahram and the sage Sisa, who invented chess to show the emperor how even the weakest piece can win. The emperor liked the game so much that he wanted to reward the sage and asked him to make a wish. Sisa said that he wanted one grain of wheat for the first square on the board, two grains for the second square, four for the third, eight for the fourth, and so on for each subsequent square, twice as many grains as for the previous square. The emperor thought this was too modest a reward and asked the sage to take something more valuable, but the sage did not want to give up his wish. However, when it was time to collect the resulting grain, a problem arose. The mathematicians informed the emperor that his wheat supplies were insufficient, since the number of grains that the king should give as a gift was 18,446,744,073,709,551,615, which could not be collected in the entire world. The king came up with an idea and told the sage that he did not want to be cheated of a single grain and that he was therefore inviting him to the royal treasury to pluck the grains together with his servants. The sage tried to get out of it and justify himself by his obligations. The king laughed, but it is not known what reward was ultimately granted to the sage.
